If you had told a local 20 years that the longest waiting list for a restaurant table in the world would be in Roses, Catalunia, you might understandably have got a quizzical look (El Bulli). So, when a smart set of smiling bangladeshi, down from Preston (without doubt the curry capital of the UK) decide to open a top notch Indian in North Muskham village you might also be forgiven for scratching your proverbial head…but you would be equally mistaken.

Here, Duck Roshun, Lobster pepper fry and Lamb chili fry sit proudly alongside fine twists on the usual suspects on this ambitious menu, but be certain, there is no confusion in the fusion in this village kitchen, and the self-assured panache of the cooking and presentation speak of skills honed in serious curry country.

No timidity to the spicing here, no concessions to the post-pub past – this is Indian cooking not just to dress up for, but in this case to undress for too, as the Ashiana has imaginatively broken another mould with the introduction of 10 elegant guest rooms— a smart move considering the out of town location, allowing the serious foodie to really relax into the menu, and an inspired prod, given our shamefully ‘passing acquaintance’ with the delicate complexity of the myriad cuisines of the sub-continent.

We expect pilgrimages, so book soon…
